One only has to read Gawain's superb artistic perigranations !I enjoy them immensely ,a well rounded I dividual unlike Jacob Rees Mogg who is an utter bore.
Perhaps if the Reform councillors keep in touch with all voters on the results of each vote - keeping it factual - then this lack of accountability will be exposed.
I'm pretty sure they'll be doing precisely that; one would hope that Lowe is not foolish enough to allow his personal resentment to surface too soon - but were I a betting man, I'd have a monkey he won't be able to resist it.
Nail and head again, Gawain! Establishment parties here in Cymru / Wales (and elsewhere) openly and laughably refer to themselves as Progressives. As if members of an elite club or fraternity. In the Senedd the balance is now 55 (Plaid 43 Lab 9 Grn 2 LD 1) vs 41 (Reform 34 Cons 7). Ap Iorwerth is the new leader of that bloc. Same horse, different jockey. 🏇
Highly recommend this organisation and its Political Compass Test. The Left vs Right dichotomy is deliberately disingenuous. An Establishment red herring. Collectivism vs Individualism is more important. Enjoy! https://youtu.be/5u3UCz0TM5Q?si=N3p53owcPhsQK4FI
Just as Nigel has pointed out, Starmer is our best recruiting sergeant - emotionally irritating though it is, the longer he stays in No 10 the better.
The SNP / Plaid policy will backfire spectacularly, just the same policy in Germany is doing regarding the AfD.
The one thing to take from the Labour / SNP / Plaid / Liberal Democrat statements is that we in Reform have got them all FRIT.
Good, also, to see your comments on Lowe - who didn’t even have the courage to stand his people as ‘Restore Britain’.
Whilst congratulating the individual councillors on their victory, they have prevented overall Reform control of Norfolk - it will be fascinating to see whether Lowe’s embittered outlook works for the benefit of Great Yarmouth electors where Council Tax, Potholes and Bin Collections are concerned.
I think you'd be embittered as well at what he suffered at the hands of an immigrant descended individual like Muhammad Zia Yusuf, who styles himself on Substack as 'Shadow Home Secretary'.He isn't even in Parliament ,admittedly he is a large share holder in the private company known as Reform(More of the same ).One thing I am delighted with though is that we must thank Reform for gradually destroying that once great Conservative party .It has so debased itself that it's now led by a Nigerian(Obviously Jenrick wouldn't have left it had he been in charge, I hope he's bringing in money , hopefully from Dirty Des whom he tried to save millions in taxes on a property development. Not sure whether his Jewess wife is a nom don or not or where she's based here or Tel Aviv ,nationality is so fluid these days .)Do let me know .
I thought I was all out of astonishment. It is stunning to read the oh so official responses of the oh so nearing extinction old boys. Are they oblivious or planning truly horrible desperation & panic moves?
We've been rolling our eyes at the lack of reporting in mainstream / legacy outlets on the scale of the rout in the UK, and I hadn't seen reporting on these reality-denying reactions. No one is even going to try to co-opt Reform and try to deflect any of the correction if not retribution coming down the pike? I guess when people are bitten by the civilizational-suicide bug, party suicide is part of the package. On our side of the pond, the self-loathing set seem to have their wheels in the same ruts.
We will all have to hold the line and weather the storms, but it surely is encouraging to see a turning tide across your shores.
Excellent analysis. Who do these arrogant people think they are? By excluding Reform UK councillors they are essentially putting two fingers up to about 30% voters. It’s playground politics: they should grow up!
If only they knew that Reform is controlled opposition... but then, they probably do know.
It's all a construct. The elite, knowing that the electorate were fed up with the two party system that has only, in the eyes of the public, delivered failure, were hungry for change... and so the elite provided the change...
Reform, the new rebounded Tory party
The Greens, the newest more extreme Labour party.
And, with the exception of a few of us, you are all falling for it.
Look at Reform’s backers.
Look at Reform’s candidates.
If anyone thinks Reform will change anything for the better, they are delusional.
Ministry of meaningless statistics again, people wanted to show their contempt for Starmer and it was a choice of vote Reform or don't vote. One only has to look at Woking where your candidate was a 19year old ,who had slated Reform in a dissertation, then became a candidate The other candidates were all various forms of Indians, in those circumstances even I would probably vote Reform.
The one who gave NF a recent gift of £5m ,of course he never expected anything in return,would you ?Even goes by some weird Indian name in Thailand where he's based !!;
Well Irene, you are, of course, entitled to your opinion. However, since between 25% and 40% of the entire vote share on 7 May was composed of Reform voters, I respectfully suggest that, like Rupert Lowe, you're in a rather small minority.
If I were you Irene I wouldn't even reply to this individual ,in a previous blog he /she who knows, overtly professed his admiration for Benjamin Netanyahu,an indicted war criminal.I think we know precisely where it's coming from .
They are ignorant. I was at one time in Reform, I left when I realised what they were. There membership numbers have been falling, although they don't acknowledge that. I was active within the party, I had contacts, they gradually became disillusioned, and resigned.
Farage is a complete charlatan, as one person said to me, a former Reform candidate in the last general election, Farage is a snake oil salesman, it's all razzmatazz. And I can tell you that they still don't have any policies.
Quite right ,I can imagine the level of bullying you were subjected to .It’s not “Let's talk about Kevin”,it's basically “It's all about Nigel “All good wishes to you.
I'm saddened to see today in The Times that another Reform Councillor, newly elected ,Glenn Gibbins has been suspended by Reform for a mild joke ,that I’Ve heard a friend of mine use.He said “Nigerians should be melted down and used to fill potholes”,poor taste I'd say and obviously he had Olukemi Adegoke Bad Enoch in mind but just where is freedom of speech going in this country.Very http://disappointing.It was ages ago any way .
As usual a superb article ,I'm also pleased Gawain has highlighted the fact that in these straitened times the Welsh Assembly has increased its’ lawmakers by 36.!!I’Ve never believed in democracy, there is far too much of it.
One of my favourite blog commenters mildly observed that They wouldn't be "left-leaning" if we were to string 'em up. How amusing to write such a brief satire of US Democratic opinionating. But it looks as if that American habit - like all American bad habits - is coming to us. Or for us.
I have always believed in the death penalty, however I believe it is a a waste of time to use rope when it is quite possible to execute two with one bullet. In fact the last time I saw that great Statesman Ian Smith of Rhodesia in Cape Town,we visited the 'Museum' of Apartheid .As one enters there is a display of noose representing the terrorists hanged (The only thing to do with terrorists). Some pygmy guide came out and stated to me ,'Isnt it terrible '.I said "Yes what a waste of rope ,one bullet could have done two ."
I'm sure had she been able to go red she would have done.!
Another great article. My Sunday morning pick me up.
Why thank you, glad to be of service
Great as the article is, you obviously don't watch 'Kojack 'with wonderful Telly Savalas.
You need to explain further. I'm well old enough to remember Kojak!!
Well I think there's more to life than Reform propaganda actually.

Thank you Gawain.
Once more, you go to the heart of it.
Just as Nigel has pointed out, Starmer is our best recruiting sergeant - emotionally irritating though it is, the longer he stays in No 10 the better.

At least Rupert Lowe has the courage to use his own name unlike yourself .

A measured and well- reasoned article. Bumpy times await.
If only they knew that Reform is controlled opposition... but then, they probably do know.

So, carry on with the charade...
Wibble....
You have no idea do you?

One day, when you've grown up, you'll see the reality, you won't know what's hit you.
As always, the intellectually challenged resort to childish language. Don't worry, I'm used to it...
Numbers just published, Irene.
Apparently, Reform won 3,825,559 votes across Britain — one million more than our nearest rival!
So, from your perspective, I suppose that's quite a lot of delusional behaviour.
Restore Britain received zero votes.
'Great Yarmouth First' received 16,496 votes.
I believe that numbers generally put things in perspective.
