First class article, Gawain, you nailed every point.

Lowe's video reminds me of Habib's video, and also of how Lowe ignored that video; Lowe is destined for the same endgame irrelevance as Habib, team players neither of them.

Your rationale with reference to Lowe's five points, coming from a Party around 3% nationally is totally accurate.

You also identified the antisemitic element of 'Restore Britain' - my Britain has never been remotely antisemitic.

This embittered individual, this grudge with a logo, this ego on steroids is trying to regain some national publicity, some relevance - HE knows that regardless of soundbites, Restore 'policies' are toxic and are vote losers to all but the ex BNP genuine 'Far Right'.

(And could we please have done without that damned piano tinkling away in the background)

Gawain Towler's avatar

The piano made me think of Werther’s Originals.

LKK59's avatar

Polling at 2% and issuing demands - Tory stooge!

Ken Norman's avatar

Definitely lose the piano; helped to show up the real message for what it was.

Farage kicks out Habib and Lowe but, in your eyes, it's they who are not team players. Sure it's not Nige who's the problem?

Whatever problems Reform now has with Restore are the result of Farage's mishandling. That's not to say Lowe is blameless but if Farage caused your home to be raided by the police, you'd be cross too.

David Redfern's avatar

Please explain how Nigel 'mishandled' the expulsion of Roopert Lowe from the party.

From what we factually know, Roopert was accused of bullying staff and threatening Zia Yusef with violence.

Quite properly, the police were alerted; any responsible employer is obliged to do that.

The case was investigated, but insufficient evidence was found to proceed with a prosecution.

That does not mean to say there was no evidence; indeed, had there been no evidence, the plaintiffs would have run the risk of being prosecuted themselves for, at the very least, wasting police time.

Lowe was known for his high turnover of managers whilst he owned Southampton Football Club. Graeme Souness, Dave Jones, Glenn Hoddle, Stuart Gray, Gordon Strachan, Paul Sturrock, Steve Wigley and Harry Redknapp were all employed and left the club between 1996 and 2005. He can be forgiven, Dave Jones.

Eight managers in nine years is a clear indication that the man is a nightmare to work with.

As for the raid on Lowe's home. It is standard operating procedure for the police to look into the background of a man accused of threatening behaviour. Those checks would have revealed he owned numerous firearms licences. As Lowe himself bragged, there were so many the police had to use a wheelbarrow to take them away.

A firearms licence is, for all intents and purposes, an open-ended search warrant the holder agrees to. The police are obliged under law to ensure those firearms each have a licence, that each firearm conforms to its corresponding licence, that each firearm has not been modified and that all remain safe to use.

It is inconceivable those checks on so many firearms could have been done at Lowe's home.

Your defence of Reform is somewhat tendentious. What you think you "factually know" is just a Reform press release.

They were complainants, not plaintiffs. Their evidence was self-evidently weak and no-one gets charged with wasting police time, otherwise Nigel would be getting his collar felt for complaining about Polanski's social media.

I don't know exactly what happened and neither do you. I repeat, I'm not saying Lowe was blameless but the simple fact that he has been motivated to set up a whole new party is all the evidence needed to show his departure was mishandled.

Habib is also miffed by the circumstances of his defenestration. As Lady Bracknell might say, once is unfortunate but two is carelessness.

David Redfern's avatar

We factually know that there were official statements from the police and the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS):

The Metropolitan Police issued statements confirming they were investigating:

On or around 7–8 March 2025, a Met Police spokesperson said:

“On Thursday 6 March we received an allegation of verbal threats made by a 67-year-old man on Friday 13 December 2024. Officers are carrying out an assessment of the allegations to determine what further action may be required.”

On 11 March 2025, the Met confirmed it had launched a full investigation:

“The Metropolitan Police have now launched an investigation into an allegation of a series of verbal threats made by a 67-year-old man… Further enquiries are ongoing at this stage.”

They later clarified that the alleged threats related to a period between December 2024 and February 2025.

We can assume, reasonably, that those statements align closely with the allegations against Roopert Lowe, as Reform released details of the allegations, namely bullying staff and threatening Zia Yusuf, or, judging by Roopert's past history of suing people, he would have sued Reform/Farage if they were not true.

You are correct, though; we will never know what really happened, but Reform staff, including Zia Yusuf, and probably the police do.

In July 2026 Jack Wood was sentenced on 22 July 2026 at Bristol Crown Court to causing wasteful employment of the police (the formal name for wasting police time).

However, the preferred charge is perverting the course of justice, which carries a possible sentence of life imprisonment. In 2026 Lauren Evans was convicted of perverting the course of justice after inventing a sexual assault allegation to cover being late for work.

Which is why I posted "...for, at the very least, wasting police time."

Quite why Roopert set up a political party remains a mystery to most people; however, his past history with Southampton Football Club and the utterly extraordinarily prescriptive nature of the policies he's written for Restore UK reveal the nature of a control freak.

Habib failed even to get elected as an MP. Doubtless another character blaming Reform and Farage for his own failure.

Thanks for playing.

Dougie 4's avatar

I feel guilty now, having caused you to spend 10 minutes of your life you'll never get back to find two cases of wasting police time.

Bottom line is Lowe was investigated and no charges resulted. The only result was to create a significant political challenge in the creation of Restore. Unless there was absolutely no other possible way Lowe could have been dealt with, then self-evidently the matter was mishandled. It may well be they needed to get Lowe out but the way it was done caused an awful lot of damage that continues to this day.

Perhaps you can shed some light on what Yusuf's 24hr resignation was all about.

gruszkimama's avatar

Habit left in high dudgeon, having failed to be elected as an MP - he was not "defenestrated". He had been joint Deputy with David Bull (also not elected as an MP), who did not stomp off in a tantrum but saw the reality for their joint replacement; David remained on cordial terms and became Chairman. Both Lowe and Habib spend an inordinate amount of time attacking Reform, but very little time focusing on Labour and the Tories. Grudge holders, nothing more.

Dougie 4's avatar

Defenestrated, demoted, use whatever term you like. Bull has been totally useless, by the way.

Poppy’s mum's avatar

You have been sucked in by Lowe life the egomaniac! Both Lowe and Habib bitter little jealous losers

Dougie 4's avatar

I'm not batting for Lowe. Just pointing out Farage has a track record of falling out with people near the top of his organisation. What was the story behind Zia Yusuf's 24 HR resignation I wonder.

Donna's avatar

He didn't kick out Habib. Habib flounced out of the party when he was demoted from Deputy Leader, having failed to win a Parliamentary seat.

Dougie 4's avatar

Zia flounced out too didn't he? What was that all about?

Nicole's avatar

Restores support is dwindling this is nothing but a political stunt. You don't offer an olive branch with a list of non negotiable demands. If he is genuine (which I very much doubt). Unification happens through negotiations and compromises not demands.

PS lovely to meet you yesterday 😊

LKK59's avatar

Not sure the word genuine features in his vocabulary …

David Cottrell's avatar

Restore's support is not dwindling, but holding steady at around 7/8%. Not as high as Reform maybe, but enough to stop Reform gaining an overall majority in very many seats. As Gawain says, "a wrecking ball". No-one, in either Restore or Reform, wishes to see Restore used as a wrecking ball. It's serves neither side.

Restore's policies are very popular with Reform's membership as well as within the wider country.

Danny Kruger recently announced the laws which would have to be repealed in order for the next right wing government to enact any legislation. It was drafted by the Prosperity Institute and would reverse Blair's pernicious Constitutional Reform Act. It was brilliant.

I think that, coupled with Restore's policies Rupert laid out yesterday, it would make for a truly comprehensive plan for the radical change we need.

A Fervent Restore Supporter.

KingPrawn65's avatar

It is doing nothing of the sort - it is fluctuating between 1-3% sometimes 4.

SoBeIt🍄's avatar

Well said Gawain. As a ReformUK member, I urge ReformUK to ignore this floundering restore parties desperate attempt at relevance. Let Lowe sink.

David Cottrell's avatar

So why does Reform keep hijacking Restore's policies, then?

Reform are tanking in the polls. 35% last year and 16% now. Their support started to wane after Nigel brought in Tory slop; the same people who caused this country's problems, with the expectation that those same malevolents can now solve this country's problems.

There's nothing like mindless optimism.

SoBeIt🍄's avatar

ReformUK have NOT been using Lowes policies…. 🙄ReformUK has been a legitimate party since before 2024 election… in fact a number of years now under Tice. How on earth have we been hijacking Lowes policies when his party only registered in February 2026 - 6 months ago- after he crowdfunded a investigation after Maggie Oliver asked for this not to be done as a statutory enquiry was needed (lowes “enquiry” had no power to legally compel witnesses, evidence and prosecutions so has no standing in law).

Reform UK launched its mass deportation plan, titled "Operation Restoring Justice," on August 26, 2025. 6 months before Lowe even registered a political party!

Reform UK first included core law and order proposals in its general election platform, "Our Contract with You," launched on June 17, 2024.The party later expanded and re-launched a dedicated, more aggressive law-and-order and anti-crime campaign with specific new advisory appointments on July 21, 2025 (followed by subsequent policy rollouts in August 2025 and 2026) under the banner that "Britain is lawless". 7 months before Lowe registered a political party!

Reform UK launched its specific economic policy announcement in Westminster on June 10, 2024, ahead of releasing its full general election manifesto (the "contract" with the public) on June 19, 2024. A year and a half before Lowe launched a political party!

Reform UK originally launched its policy to leave the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) on June 17, 2024. A year and a half before Lowe launched a political party!

February 23, 2026: Home Affairs spokesman Zia Yusuf delivered a prominent policy speech in Dover explicitly pledging to restore Britain's Christian heritage.Core Proposals: The February 2026 announcements included introducing a patriotic school curriculum centered on Christianity, preventing the conversion of churches into mosques or other places of worship, and designating all historic churches as listed buildings. Yusuf and the party framed these values as foundational to British culture and high-trust societal norms. Lowes party was only registered 10 days before on a “deport everyone policy”, that’s it!

Suella Braverman launched Reform UK's new apprenticeship package and skills policy on August 20, 2026

The ex Conservative MPs that joined ReformUK did NOT wain support, in fact we are delighted that Suella Braverman, Robert Jenrick, Danny Kruger, Andrew Rosindell, Chris Green, Jonathan Gillis, Lea Nici, Nadine Dorries, Lee Anderson and Lee Anderson, Jake Berry, Andrea Jenkins, David Jones and Ben Bradley have joined.

The problem MPs are still in the Tory party! Lowe was in discussion with Badenoch to join the Tory party. That was already published in the public. That means his party are aligned with the malevolent you speak of! Rupert Lowe remarked in various interviews that he speaks to Conservatives "all the time" and that the party needs to reform. Tory Response: Figures close to Kemi Badenoch, such as Alex Burghart, indicated that any application from Lowe to join the party would be considered "closely and carefully" rather than met with an outright rejection

At least we didn’t let Steve laws, Charlie downs, Jared Taylor, sam melia and Sam Wilkes in!

There’s nothing like mindless optimism!

Gawain Towler's avatar

Not sure I’d ever claim golden truths

Nelly Agnes's avatar

It's opinion from a trusted source. You trust the man and his intentions, so you trust the opinion. Other than providing too much detail ( I never wanted to know THAT much on sheep shearing) I have found little fault with his opinions. I've gained knowledge, balance and often a fresh angle. I'll be honest, I've ended up carrying a torch for him bigger than the statue of Liberty and I'm not ashamed to admit it! (Under a pseudonym, of course! 😅)

Patricia Pearson's avatar

I’ve listened to Rupert 3 times. I find him condescending and hypocritical. He says people from other parties shouldn’t be allowed to basically jump ship to another. He was a Tory, people change when the values they once stood for are gone. Peoples beliefs do change. I think it was very cleverly worded to try and guilt trip Nigel. It’s emotional blackmail. He’s wasting his time. We’ve had Jewish communities in GB since 1656. William the Conquerer encouraged Jewish merchants and artisans to move from northern France to England. We have a massive Jewish following in Reform. Whilst I don’t agree with Kosher slaughter some things just (imho)have to be tolerated. Jews are not raping and killing on our streets, they don’t invade outdoor spaces to pray. They don’t push their religion down our throats. They aren’t bombing events and as far as I know the Torah/Talmad doesn’t teach how to knife Christians in the neck like the Quran does. Believe me it does and how to kill Jews and strip women of their skin. I had to stop reading it, it’s a cult not a religion. They don’t see their women as third class citizens so some things can’t be undone no matter how much we don’t like it. Rupert is very radical and I think many would agree with having him back, BUT I believe it could cause a mass exodus of Reform voters. We have a large following of British Muslims. These are the ones who work and pay taxes and like us are very anti paying for illegals. These are Muslims who have integrated and love the UK. We’d probably lose them as voters too. Rupert is racist with capital R.

He’s been seen hob nobbing with the Tories A LOT. It’s thought he wants back in but of course they won’t have him. He’s floundering as Restore Britain is failing and he just wants to latch onto us before he drowns. These are my feelings. He’s power crazy and that was the main reason he was relieved of his position in Reform. He wants to be the boss and I think it would all kick off again. He’s also a misogynist and is extremely rude to women. I know this to be absolutely true. He set about to destroy Reform and now it’s not working like he hoped, he wants back in.

Julie Preece's avatar

Well said Patricia. I find Rupert Lowe utterly repugnant. However, I do agree that none stun slaughter is disgraceful. Fortunately we are able to buy our meat from a farm who raise and slaughter the animals in the most humane way possible. They supply by post all over the country.

David Redfern's avatar

The difference between Kosher slaughter and Halal slaughter is that Halal has turned into a huge business. When was the last, or first, time anyone saw a Tesco chiller devoted to kosher meat?

Our artisan butcher and delicatessen, a large business, now has freezers full of Halal meat. It was only by accident I noticed the word 'halal' on a large tray of chicken breasts I was about to buy.

This supposedly religious ritual has now turned into a money-making concern that we are all expected to conform to on the grounds of 'accepting difference'. OK, let the Muslims accept the difference we offer in our culture and eat humanely slaughtered meat.

I don't like either practice, but at least Jews keep it strictly to themselves.

Patricia Pearson's avatar

That’s what I meant David I’m totally against Halal and the fact that all the supermarkets are okay with it. I have seen horrific images from halal slaughter houses that I cannot unsee.

David Redfern's avatar

Don't believe what you see on the internet.

DerbyshireC's avatar

Visit parts of North London and get back to me David. You are obviously in complete shock that somebody would be consistent and even apply it to the most special chosen group that exists.

David Redfern's avatar

I live in Saff London. Well, as near to South London as one can get. Lewisham is on my doorstep, and I have worked and socialised everywhere in London.

I wonder what "most special chosen group that exists" you are referring to?

DerbyshireC's avatar

The ones that openly refer to themselves as chosen by God. Not the sharpest tool in the shed is he our Dave.

David Redfern's avatar

Are you referring to Muslims or Jews, as both claim the same thing?

Sharpen up, please.

EppingBlogger's avatar

I wonder if the Tories might have Lowe back just before the GE. They certainly owe him an honour for the advantages he has provided but which they cannot exploit.

Patricia Pearson's avatar

He’s been seen hobnobbing with the Tories…he’s trying to get back in but the don’t want him…surprise surprise so he’s trying to get back to Reform now his party is going down the tubes.

David Redfern's avatar

Badenoch wouldn't touch him with a barge pole.

Elizabeth's avatar

She absolutely would if it got her grubby hands on power....she's a Tory. She also hates Farage. I wouldn't be surprised if Lowe and Badenoch are not in cahoots together. Both desperate.

David Redfern's avatar

I think they are clearly in cahoots; that doesn't mean Badenoch would ever let him represent the Tories as an MP.

Nor would Roopert join the Conservative Party because his supporters/voters despise them as much as Reform voters do, and they would abandon and condemn him for selling out.

Michele Spong's avatar

But he was in talks to rejoin the Tories whereupon Kemi gave him a Tory seat on PAC.

David Redfern's avatar

Yep, the Tories used him for their purposes. Not for his.

Michele Spong's avatar

Did you miss her Spectator interview in which she smugly talked about her "informal relationship" with Lowe? Bear in mind also that she declined to take any action against Susan Hall for sitting on the Restore board, or Sir Gavin Williamson for that matter.

David Redfern's avatar

Using Roopert is not the same as working with him.

David Cottrell's avatar

You really don't care a great deal about facts. Do you?

Rupert gets along with Kemi and was offered a place on the Parliamentary Finance committee, but has declined to join the Tories.

Kemi doesn't like Nigel after vowing to destroy the Tory Party.

David Cottrell's avatar

Nigel also changed his views. He ordered Rupert to remove the word "mass" from his speech on deportations, and now Zia uses it regularly! When Rupert used the term he received a standing ovation .

Nigel said on the Winston Marshall podcast and the Steve Edgington podcast that he has no intention to take on political Islam, "we'll lose", he said. So demographic replacement doesn't worry Nigel. It certainly doesn't worry Tice.

Gawain Towler's avatar

You have no idea how it works. The speech claim for example is patent nonsense.

John Beck's avatar

Further to your position on Halal. It is not the position of tolerating the practice that galls, it is having the practice thrust upon you without consent. Businesses use halal meat to appease Muslims and keep them as customers whilst counting on non Muslims being indifferent. My friend works for a large food company that supplies schools, the armed forces, prisons, hospitals and many chains. It makes sense for them to supply mostly halal products, indeed they have large halal slaughter houses on numerous sites, rather than supplying both halal and non halal from a cost benefit perspective.

The net result is Islam is catered for and every other customer can suck it up. That feels like appeasement by the back door. We do enough facilitating of their demands.

JimmyD's avatar

Nigel is leader and deserves respect!

I only trust Nigel's judgement on all this, if Nigel's ok then I am!

Danny Skyrme's avatar

I saw low at the 2024 conference and he spoke well….. but! There was something that just didn’t sit right. I later learned that he showed contempt as early as this by staying on stage way past his allotted time. That day gave him a taste of power and it has become his drug, that was what underlied the discomfort I felt listening to him! He is without a doubt an egotistical narcissist personified! Every box ticked in your observations and respect to you to not sink to Lowes low and attack him in the manner he has done to Reform. Thanks again Gawain. I see Darren Grimes is fully on this also.

Nelly Agnes's avatar

I always think of him as Sir Gawain, knight of the realm

John Bowman's avatar

It all is a bit obvious - reverse Godfather, making Farage an offer he couldn’t accept.

I think his aim always has been to be the leader of Reform UK and get rid of Nigel Farage and Richard Tice.

The current frenzied attacks on Nigel Farage and Richard Tice by the rabid Uniparty pack and its stooges, the fact that Restore Britain is a refuge for fringe elements and not gaining core support or improving its electoral position, it is perhaps the last chance for Rupert Lowe to become relavent and move in to take over the helm at Reform UK and make it his Party.

John's avatar

Well read, my interpretation of it as well. Perhaps Kemi Blah blah-denoch has dumped him 🤣😂

John's avatar

He is a Mega-Lowe-Maniac. His pathetic puny party is collapsing in front of him. It's a last ditch effort by Lowe and Blah Blah denoch to try and derail Reform. No is my answer, and every other Reform supporters as well. Nigel must refuse, by public humiliation at the ridiculous nature of his demands, and in particular on the anti semitic nature of the kosher ban. No, No, No.

DerbyshireC's avatar

✅ demographic replacement of indigenous Europeans

❌ upsetting jews

Can’t wait for boomers to get there taste of multiculturalism is the “care” homes.

Julia Leigh's avatar

I was a fan of Rupert's before he went rogue but more & more I get the feeling he is a Tory plant. I agree that banning Halal & Kosher would hurt our Jewish community & I don't want that either. What I want is, for it to be clearly labelled so that we know what we are eating & I don't want it sneakily put into our food chain. I don't believe anyone is trying to do that with Kosher food. Clear labelling is what is needed & then hopefully supply & demand will keep religious slaughter to a minimum. I don't envy Nigel & the board having to deal with Rupert's 5 conditions. Reminds me of the Brexit "surrender bill"

Gawain Towler's avatar

Clear labelling seems the way forward. And I am uncomfortable with the wholesale introduction of halal into mainstream schools/hospitals without discussion and consent.

DerbyshireC's avatar

A wonderful analysis of what's taken place. I am a Reform Party member, and very proud to be. I am loyal to the man who has fought tooth and nail for three decades to restore UK's greatness, Nigel Farage. We owe him so much, and I will fight, in my humble way, to ensure this yet to be PM does indeed reside in No 10. For all our sakes, I hope people see sense and vote Reform. Thankyou Gawain, much appreciated.

EppingBlogger's avatar

Well said Gawain

Meanwhile the political class oriented commentators claim Reform is finished because they came second while Badenock is succeeding by coming fifth.

All the while Badenock & Co are spinning pretend policy changes just enough to give the DT and DM columnists something to talk about without frightening off the remain globalists from the back benches.

David Redfern's avatar

Maybe Nigel announces he would accept Roopert into Reform again, providing he fully accepts Reform's terms and drops his own terms and that he's confined to his constituency office so there is no possibility of accusations of bullying or threatening behaviour.

But it's all theatre as far as Rooperts concerned. I don't believe there's a single former cabinet member from any political party who would join him, and without that depth of knowledge of the system, he's sunk.

Try reading his so-called policies on his website. It's fairly obvious Lowe has been let loose with paper and pen; they run to pages that no one will read. They also cover, like Andy Burnham, in all but three cases mostly fringe concerns:

Policy on School Fines - 9 pages

Policing Policy Paper - 140 pages (yes, you read that right: 140)

Energy Policy Paper - 43 pages

Abolish Inheritance Tax - Shown but doesn't exist

Retaking the English Castle - 38 pages

Restoring the British Pub - 30 pages

Mass Deportations - 113 pages

These aren't policies; they are Walter Mitty delusions from someone who has never worked in a school, the police, the energy industry, or a pub, or, indeed, worked at a policy level with these people.

I haven't read any of them because they are far too long, but I'm prepared to bet there are no proposals as to how to fund any of it.

I think Graham Souness (or one of Rupert's many managers at Southampton) recited a story about Roopert appearing on the training ground one day and, having never played a professional game of football in his life, announcing he was going to instruct the players on how to take a corner.

This is what these 'policies' represent. A deluded man who believes he can prescribe for entire industries and organisations on how to do their jobs. I daren't look at the policing effort. As an ex-cop, I think I would die laughing e.g. "Appendix A: Consolidated Task List, Allocation and Timeline" 🙄

Sue Ward's avatar

I think the comparison with Jason Arday is prescient.

Initially I was intrigued as I began to watch the video. I am as alarmed as anyone by the spector of the representatives of the Right busily shooting each other in the foot while the Coalition from Hell charges through on the Left. This wasn’t that.
